Volunteer Agreement

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering in one of our school chess club programs! Volunteers are an important part of the PALS Chess Academy after school chess club program and we are grateful for your valuable time volunteering. 

Volunteer Expectations 

• Volunteers should familiarize themselves with the check-in protocols of the school on their first day and abide by them afterward.  (Check-in protocols may include signing in at the front desk, scanning a driver’s license, wearing a visitor’s pass, and/or calling security from the front desk to let them know you are on the premises)
• Volunteers MUST check in with the coach so that they can document that you were volunteering on that specific day (this ensures credit for that volunteer shift, if it isn’t noted by the coach, you will NOT be rebated for that date)
• Volunteers should assist the Coach with any and all duties during the chess club time
  • Set up the room with the boards & pieces
  • Monitor the kids during chess play & during chess lesson time
  • If the volunteer knows how to play, they may be asked to play if there is an odd number of kiddos that particular day
  • Clean-up of the space before dismissal
  • And most importantly, have FUN! 

Volunteer Rebate policy:

• As a Volunteer you would receive a rebate of one child’s tuition at the end of the club session equal to the number of classes you volunteered and assisted. Please note: if you have more than one child in the chess club, you will only get one rebate on one paid tuition.  If you volunteer at all the chess club sessions in the given chess club session, you will receive 100% of the tuition charged for the chess club. If you are able to volunteer less than 100%, we will rebate back the amount equal to the number of chess club sessions you volunteered.
• You will receive your rebate 4-6 weeks after the last chess club date (we will refund the credit card used in the original tuition payment)
