PALS HOMESCHOOL & AFTERSCHOOL CHESS CLUBS
PALS is proud to announce our brand new Homeschool & Afterschool Chess Club program! Each chess club will feature our unique and fun chess club curriculum created by National Masters and 14 time Colorado State Chess Champions, brothers, Griffin and Sullivan McConnell.
These weekly chess clubs will be taught by PALS’ highly trained and experienced chess coaches! Classes are designed for children ages 5-15 years old and will have a 12:1 student to coach ratio. Whether your child is brand new to chess or a seasoned player, these clubs will elevate their game to the next level!
Every year since 2013, PALS chess students have won Colorado State Scholastic Chess Championships. In February 2024, PALS’ chess students swept all sections at the Colorado State Scholastic Chess Championship coming in 1st in K-1, K-3, K-5, K-8 and K-12.

FORMAT
- Our scholastic homeschool & afterschool chess clubs typically last for one hour
- We divide time equally between group lessons and supervised playing
- Our students work in teams on fun and creative challenges like our very own chessercizes!
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Our lessons are engaging, enlightening and highly entertaining for kids. PALS coaches excel in making chess fun while teaching valuable critical-thinking and life skills throughout each lesson. Students will learn to calculate options and evaluate their consequences, reinforcing planning skills, growing from mistakes, overcoming obstacles, and practicing visualization techniques to think a few steps ahead.
